IT Home On October 8, it was reported that Google Cloud announced today at the Gemini at Work 2026 event the launch of the Gemini Agent for enterprise customers. The product is positioned as a "universal work agent,"Supports Gemini Enterprise, Workspace, and third-party services。
Google said that the Gemini Agent only needs the user to provide a goal to complete the work, supporting answering questions, handling knowledge work, creating media content, and writing programs.
For example, when your manager emails you requesting a PPT on recent project progress, Workspace Intelligence will consider the task something AI can handle, and the user only needs to click a button to hand it over to Gemini to continue.
Beyond serving as a personal assistant, the Gemini agent can also be used as a "team member". It can serve as a PM, financial analyst, and more within a team.
IT之家 noted that,the agent currently supports Gemini and Claude modelsand will in the future be compatible with various closed-source and open-source models. Official APIs will be provided, allowing developers to integrate the Gemini Agent into third-party applications.
The Gemini agent is currently in private preview, and is expected to open broadly to eligible Workspace customers soon, supporting some Business and Enterprise plans.
