IT之家 October 10 news — According to a Bloomberg report on October 9 local time, the new AI decision-making model Jev from startup TypeSafe AI went viral just weeks after launch. The company recently completed a funding round of approximately $870 million (IT之家 note: approximately RMB 5.842 billion at current exchange rates), led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z),bringing the company's valuation to $7.5 billion(approximately RMB 50.364 billion at current exchange rates).
According to the startup, Jev has already been adopted by about one third of Fortune 500 companies, though the company has not disclosed its specific client list. In addition, the model surpassed the 1 million user mark within just days of going live.
Andreessen Horowitz, which previously invested in OpenAI and xAI, reportedly contributed the most in this funding round, with Sequoia Capital and several angel investors also participating.
TypeSafe co-founder and CEO Diogo Almeida said in an interview that over the years he has watched many AI practitioners over-promise and under-deliver. He said the company's goal is to rebuild market trust in AI technology by offering stable, reliable and affordable solutions through Jev and updates planned for release in the coming months.
Almeida pointed out that many current AI models suffer from the flaw of "intelligence gaps and inconsistency." "If your model is as smart as Einstein 95% of the time, but acts like Mr. Bean the remaining 5%, then such a model is completely useless in an automated production environment."
TypeSafe currently has only a lean team of just over 20 people. The company plans to use the newly raised funds to expand its staff, push forward large-scale product deployment, and purchase more computing power. The startup said the platform currently processes tokens at the scale of several trillion per day.
Almeida said Jev is already profitable after deducting various operating costs. However, the company did not disclose specific revenue figures.
Almeida also revealed that to celebrate the surge in usage in Jev's early days after launch, the TypeSafe team had agreed that everyone would dye their hair pink. However, because employees were all working overtime to handle the surge in business demand, only Almeida actually went through with dyeing his hair. He then live-streamed the process to users in the TypeSafe community on Discord while working at the same time.
