IT之家 On October 10, Microsoft released a desktop stable version of Microsoft Edge 155 update on October 8, with the version number being 155.0.4283.45.The new version adds JPEG XL image decoding support and expands the intelligent organization features for tabs and workspaces.
In terms of feature updates, Microsoft Edge 155 enhances the AI tab organization function. Now, it not only suggests how to group tabs and workspaces, but also recommends tab names, visual styles, and labels. Users can adjust the related settings in edge://settings/privacy/services.
In terms of image support, the new version can decode JPEG XL (image/jxl) images. This format supports progressive decoding, wide color gamut, High Dynamic Range (HDR), high resolution, and animation, which enables browsers to display the corresponding image content directly.
In terms of real-time translation, Microsoft will stop supporting the real-time video translation feature. This change will be implemented in phases, so some users may still be able to use the feature currently. The LiveVideoTranslationEnabled policy will be abandoned in future updates.
This update also brings several changes to web platform features, including functions such as CSS symbols () and margin-trim, as well as an expansion of the window management API; web applications with appropriate permissions can control window maximization, minimization, and restoration.
In terms of security, Microsoft said that Edge 155 incorporates the latest security updates from the Chromium project; the official security page did not list specific CVE numbers at that time.
In addition, Edge 155 expands the coverage of the web page unload event handler that is defaultly disabled to 100% of the page load, and Microsoft reminds developers to migrate to alternative mechanisms suitable for managing the page lifecycle.
