IT之家 October 13 news: media outlet variety published a blog post yesterday (October 12), reporting that at the Lumière Film Festival in France, director Tsui Hark said AI is increasingly blurring the boundary between reality and illusion.

On October 12, during the Lumière Film Festival in Lyon, France, Tsui Hark attended a masterclass event and discussed AI's impact on the perception of reality. He said that since AI entered the cultural sphere, it has become steadily harder for people to judge whether what they see is real.
Tsui Hark said advertising, the internet, and AI are jointly blurring the line between reality and illusion. With more sources of information and faster spread, the content the public receives is more easily shaped and harder to trace back to its true source.
He further stated that the uncertainty brought by AI is worrying. In an environment where images, videos, and text can all be generated or altered by technology, audiences facing the same content find it difficult to confirm whether it reflects real events.
Tsui Hark also linked AI to the issue of identity. He believes that information in modern society continuously shapes personal cognition, and the spread of AI may further affect people's understanding of their own identity and the external world.
According to the blog post cited by IT之家, the Lumière Film Festival is showing 4 of Tsui Hark's classic films in a retrospective:
Shanghai Blues (1984)
Peking Opera Blues (1986)
Once Upon a Time in China (1991)
Time and Tide (2000)
