IT Home October 13 news: According to a report today by LatePost, Alibaba's AI office product "Qianwen Office" is developing an e-commerce version aimed at multi-platform merchants, planned for release just before the Double 11 pre-sale.
The project began preparation in June this year and entered intensive development in September. It is coordinated by Qianwen Office CEO Chen Yusen and led by Huang Peipei (alias Lingpei), with nearly 100 employees currently involved.
Sources said Alibaba's e-commerce team provides industry skills and merchant insights, while the Qianwen Office team provides general Agent capabilities and is responsible for product coordination. The Qianwen Office e-commerce edition is not a standalone App; after entering from the web or desktop client, users can switch from the general version to the "E-commerce Operations" version. It is an Agent with its own interface and product logic, and the first industry version tested by Qianwen Office.
The e-commerce edition homepage currently has 5 sections: Double 11 Zone, Operations Analysis, Product Management, Material Production, and Marketing Promotion. Its current form is closer to a cross-platform analysis and production workbench; it cannot yet directly adjust ad delivery plans or spend on advertising for merchants, nor is it a fully automated Agent that can take over stores.
According to LatePost, about 20% of Qianwen Office's existing paid users come from the e-commerce industry, making them currently the largest and deepest users of AI among industry users. The e-commerce edition continues the multi-platform approach: merchants can directly upload product, clothing, and model materials; the operations dashboard aggregates data from multiple platforms and stores, displaying anomalies and suggested actions; AI spreadsheets organize product reviews, issues, and next steps. For data access, Taobao and Tmall data connect directly through Alibaba's internal systems; external platforms such as Youzan and Keruyun are being integrated gradually, while other e-commerce platforms require merchants to authorize login before their backend data can be collected.
Huang Peipei previously worked on recommendation algorithms at Alibaba for a long time. IT Home found from public information that Huang Peipei is a Senior Algorithm Expert at Alibaba, graduated from Beihang University with a doctorate, formerly headed the homepage personalized recommendation algorithm group of Taobao's Technology Department, and won Alibaba Group's CEO highest technology award. In 2023 he led the incubation of Huiwa, one of Alibaba's earlier independently developed AI e-commerce applications, producing marketing content for multi-platform merchants and influencers.
Prior to this, on May 11, 2026, Alibaba announced full interconnection between the Qianwen App and Taobao: the Qianwen App gained access to all Taobao product categories, and the "Qianwen AI Shopping Assistant" launched simultaneously within the Taobao App, covering features such as AI Q&A, AI virtual try-on, AI product discovery, and AI money-saving.
According to Alibaba's official introduction, the two sides adopt an Agent to Agent architecture: the Qianwen Agent understands user intent and decides when to invoke the Taobao Agent, while the Taobao Agent provides capabilities such as consumption decisions, product information, transactions, and fulfillment. On the merchant side, Taobao and Tmall simultaneously upgraded "AI Dianxiaomi", investing trillions of tokens in computing resources, upgrading it from a preset Q&A bot to an Agent customer service capable of handling complex conversations and driving transactions.
