Source @itspdfu posted on the X platform that day, saying that according to code information on Apple's website, the full-size HomePod may be expected to support Siri AI in the future. The corroboration comes from Apple itself: ITHome looked through Apple's China website and found that the product caption for the full-size HomePod had been quietly rewritten, with one sentence reading "a multicolor glow lighting up to indicate the Siri AI feature," which all but confirms this upgrade — once that ring of lights on top starts using multiple colors to express "AI is thinking," it means this cylindrical speaker is set to receive a smarter voice assistant.
The mini 2 gets on board first, but the feature must wait for an OTA update
Interestingly, there's a deployment strategy at play: Apple has also confirmed that the HomePod mini 2 will come with Siri AI, but this capability will not be unlocked together with the hardware launch — it will only be rolled out gradually through "future software updates." On the mini 2, once Siri AI encounters requests involving the user's personal context, it still needs to be paired with an iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence to get the job done.
From the mini 2 going first and the full-size model following closely behind, it's clear Apple is gradually rolling out Siri AI as a unified selling point for the smart home entry point. However, the "launch hardware first, add software later" approach also means users may not get to try it right away when the product arrives — the truly smart experience will depend on when that OTA update lands.
