The long-awaited AI feature for Chinese-market sold iPhone users has achieved a major breakthrough. Information from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s network supervision shows that several Chinese-market sold iPhone models have recently received updated registration details, with official registration numbers for models equipped with large-scale models being added. This indicates that Apple is actively promoting compliance and implementation of Apple Intelligence in the mainland Chinese market.
Regulatory information shows that the Chinese-market iPhone Duo received a trial license on September 2 this year, and the license was finalized on September 29. Meanwhile, a large model registration number was added. On the same day when the licenses were finalized and the registration information was updated, models such as the iPhone 15Pro, iPhone 16Pro, iPhone Air, iPhone 17, and iPhone 18Pro Max—many of China’s main flagship models—were also included.
In this updated filing number, multiple records are included, including “Shanghai AppleZhiNeng202506160057”, “Shanghai TongYiWanXiang202410090024”, and “ZheJiang TongYiQianWen20230901”. Previously, the mobile generative artificial intelligence service filing information released by “XinWang China” indicated that the “Apple Smart” developed by Apple Technology Development (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was filed on July 8, 2026, and the applicable devices were clearly marked as Apple mobile phones produced by Guoxing.
As early as 2024, Apple launched the Apple Smart features for the first time, which were supported by the iPhone15Pro series. However, due to localization adaptation and regulatory compliance requirements, users in China have never been able to experience these features. This time, several Apple models have undergone a centralized update with large model registration numbers, and they have integrated domestic compliant large model capabilities such as Tongyi Qianwen, marking a key step in the compliance preparation for the Chinese version of Apple Smart. It is expected that these features will be officially available to users in the near future.
