On October 14, two of Tencent's office products with leading user scale — WeChat Work (Enterprise WeChat) and WorkBuddy — jointly released new versions, achieving deep two-way integration. After this upgrade, WorkBuddy has officially entered the WeChat Work contact directory, can draw on WeChat Work's work context, and the two share a single WeChat Work account system. This update combines Tencent's long-accumulated connectivity capabilities with the understanding and execution capabilities of intelligent agents, going deep into enterprises' real-world scenarios. At present, WeChat Work covers more than 14 million real enterprises and organizations, and 750 million WeChat users are served through WeChat Work every day. Enterprises can use AI to boost efficiency within their familiar ways of working without changing platforms, migrating data, or altering work habits.
Connecting full-domain context, AI enters the workplace and becomes real productivity
In the newly released WeChat Work version 5.0.12, WorkBuddy enters the enterprise contact list as a conversational bot, allowing users to handle tasks via chat at any time; at the same time, the latest WorkBuddy version 5.8.0 simultaneously supports WeChat Work account login, and within the scope of enterprise authorization, obtains ten capability permissions including messages, documents, meetings, and cloud drive, completing tasks such as deep analysis and complex document processing.
The "full-domain context" of business operations includes not only internal collaboration data such as documents and meetings, but also the needs, services, and business feedback connected with external customers. Based on WeChat Work's unique advantage of connecting the inside and outside, WorkBuddy truly gains the enterprise's full-domain context, participating in project collaboration, business processes, and customer service, driving task flow and discovering customer business opportunities, taking AI from improving office efficiency to enhancing the organizational productivity of business operations.
AI moves from individual efficiency gains to unified deployment, making enterprise data more secure and controllable
For enterprises, AI use is no longer a scattered individual choice. The integration of account systems means that within WeChat Work, administrators can uniformly configure the enterprise's WorkBuddy bot, handling account allocation, usage management, and AI compute procurement. Based on employees' organizational identities, access permissions can be set for different personnel, and AI can be restricted from accessing highly sensitive information, more clearly defining data flow paths and responsibility boundaries, making information more secure and controllable.
While providing a complete suite of AI office solutions, Tencent also offers enterprises a more open AI ecosystem and platform capabilities. WeChat Work and WorkBuddy support open choices of multiple models and multiple Agents, and enterprises can combine AI capabilities by position and business scenario. In addition, based on the WorkBuddy Enterprise office suite, enterprise customers can also connect accounts of collaborative office suites such as Tencent Docs, Tencent Lexiang, Tencent Cloud Drive, the Security and Efficiency Operations Platform, and Tencent's AI design agent Ardot with one click, achieving shared office memory and data, a single Agent base for unified experience, and synchronized admin backends.
At present, the new version's interoperability capabilities are open to verified WeChat Work enterprises, with limited free trial slots available; enterprises can claim them, apply for activation, or make unified purchases. Enterprises such as L'Oréal, McDonald's, and BYD are exploring the implementation of "WeChat Work + WorkBuddy" solutions.
