TikTok's Cloud and AI service platform, TikTok Cloud Engine, has officially launched a incentive program called Seedance for high-quality AI dramas. It targets high-quality AI short dramas produced using the Seedance model and released on the Hongguo Short Drama App, providing financial support to creators.
The criteria are clearly defined: real-person filmed series are not included, and only AI漫 series and AI simulated human series in pure generative form are accepted. The submitted works must be produced entirely by Seedance, and the proportion of Seedance 2.5 must exceed half of the total—producing them through APIs or tool platforms is allowed. In other words, this is a content competition with “specified tools”; Sunstone needs to bring its own models to the creative front line first. In terms of popularity, the works must enter the AI drama TOP50 list for the reporting month based on the Hongguo popularity value and pass the review. Both enterprises and individuals can register, but the entity, the work, and the creation information must be true, complete, and consistent with each other.
Half of the cash coupons, return the coupons to bind people back into the ecosystem
The rewards are divided into three tiers based on the popularity of Hongguo in that month: TOP1 to TOP10 receive a incentive of 200,000 yuan each, TOP11 to TOP20 get 100,000 yuan, and TOP21 to TOP50 also receive 50,000 yuan. What is interesting about the distribution structure is that it is uniformly “50% cash + 50% equivalent vouchers”. For those vouchers, the applicant has to choose one from three options when registering: an equivalent Volcano Ark API Token, a “drama creation” usage right, or a “manga drama creation tool” usage right. The cash goes directly to the applicant, while the other half must be returned to ByteDance’s own tools, effectively using the subsidy to further integrate creators into the ecosystem.
Being shortlisted doesn’t mean “getting money just by passing the check”. The works must be accompanied by a completion record for verification. Vast Engine allows episode detection, and if necessary, the original generation materials must also be submitted. If the verification fails or there is false reporting, the qualification will be revoked on the spot. The application window for the first phase of the event closes on January 31, 2027.
In the current era where AI video models are collectively heading toward “toolization and industrialization,” Vast Engine’s strategy is clear: instead of simply selling computing power, it would be better to use bonuses on-site to drive the supply of high-quality content, allowing Seedance to establish a habit of use and benchmark cases in the high-frequency short drama market. When models, platforms, distribution (Hongguo), and creators are connected by the same incentive system, ByteDance wants not just a marketing investment, but also a voice in the AI film production chain.
