IT Home October 20 news, according to combined reports from Bloomberg and Reuters,AI startup Anthropic is in talks with data center developer Nscale over a new cloud computing power lease contract。
Nscale is actively building its Monarch computing campus in Mason County, West Virginia, USA. The facility has a long-term planned capacity of 8GW, with the first phase designed for a capacity of 1.35GW, expected to begin delivery in early 2028.
Anthropic has previously reached a six-year agreement with Nscale for leasing 460MW of computing power in the first building of the Monarch campus, with a total value of $45 billion (IT Home note: approximately 301,215 million RMB at current exchange rates);the new negotiations involve the second building，with the same capacity and value as last time; Anthropic also holds a right of first refusal on the capacity of the third building of Monarch.
