"AI Grip Sense" is the "operation follows grip posture" feature introduced in Honor MagicOS 11, first landing with MagicOS version 11.0.0.109. Its principle is not to add new hardware sensors, but to use the phone's built-in gyroscope, gravity sensor, and frame touch sensors, combined with on-device AI algorithms, to determine in real time whether the user is holding the phone one-handed with the left or right hand, so that when a call comes in, buttons such as answer and hang up automatically shift toward the side of the gripping hand.
The feature currently mainly works with system phone call banners and supports some voice and video calling apps, and must be used in non-home-screen scenarios after unlocking. The official notes also mention that under conditions such as large shaking, the palm not touching the phone, the phone directly or indirectly touching objects other than the hand, or operating the phone with both hands, the side buttons may switch back and forth.
As the platform carrying "AI Grip Sense," MagicOS 11 also brings multiple updates, including a transparency mode upgraded to liquid glass material with stepless transparency adjustment, new Liuguang series themes and a music lock screen, as well as features such as dynamic photo watermarks and Record-While-Shooting Live.
The WIN series mentioned in the article is the former Honor GT series under a new name; the Honor Magic8 series was released on October 15, 2025, equipped with a new-generation Qinghai Lake battery, self-evolving AI agents, and other configurations, and MagicOS 11 will subsequently be pushed to models such as the Magic6 series and Magic5 series.
