IT Home on October 20 reported that, according to tech media Windows Latest, Microsoft’s Win11 has a modern “Settings” app that supports dark mode, but some options still require adjustment through the control panel that existed decades ago. Diego Baca, vice president of product design at Microsoft, said today that they are also starting to use AI to write code to accelerate fixing UI inconsistencies.
According to the original report by IT Home, Chris Pirillo, the founder of Lockergnome, previously questioned Microsoft on the X platform as to why it doesn’t use the AI resources at hand to standardize the Windows design style. Diego Baca said that AI agents can indeed improve team development efficiency, but designing an operating system for over 1 billion users is not easy.
Microsoft is gradually using WinUI 3 to refactor the old interface of Win11, rather than just adding a dark mode for traditional components. The new search interface has been tested with preview users this month. You can directly perform system operations by simply typing text, for example, entering “switch to dark mode” to quickly change the settings.

In addition, Microsoft is also reforming the “Run” dialog box, photo apps, property dialogs, and print management tools. The new version of the “Run” dialog box is built with C# and WinUI 3, and Microsoft has measured that the median display time is 94 milliseconds, which is faster than the 103 milliseconds of the old version. The restructuring of the file copy dialog box has also been completed, and interface features such as voice package management and “Reset This Computer” will be included in future plans.
