IT Home October 21 news — U.S. District Judge Zachary Bluestone on Tuesday local time dismissed the lawsuit filed by Ann Altman last year.
Ann accused her brother, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, of sexually abusing her repeatedly during her childhood. As The Guardian previously reported, the judge wrote in the filing that over the past year, Ann failed to appear for an independent medical examination and failed to comply with other deadlines, despite the court having warned that such conduct would lead to the case being dismissed.
IT Home noted that when the case was filed last year, Sam Altman, their mother, and several brothers issued a joint statement: "Annie has made deeply hurtful and entirely false accusations against our family, and especially against Sam... All of these claims are pure fabrication. This has caused immense pain to our entire family."
Bluestone granted Sam Altman's motion to dismiss the case with prejudice, meaning the plaintiff can no longer refile the same lawsuit in that court; however, the judge did not grant Sam's request for attorney's fees and litigation costs. Santos Perez, Ann's attorney, withdrew from the representation this month. He told The Guardian: "I am no longer authorized to comment on this case, but I still believe Annie."
