IT之家 October 21 news — OpenAI and Google Cloud announced on October 21 local time that OpenAI's frontier models (including GPT-6 Astra, Sol and Luna) and the Codex coding agent will go live on the Model Garden and Marketplace platforms in the coming weeks. This partnership means OpenAI's models now cover all three major US cloud providers.
This means that, following Anthropic's latest closed-source models Claude Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5, OpenAI's latest closed-source GPT models will also be offered to users through Google Antigravity and Gemini Agent, without the risk of being banned by Anthropic. Gemini Agent is a general-purpose work agent spanning Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Slack, designed to dynamically route to the most suitable model across different tasks.
After OpenAI's exclusive agreement with Microsoft expires in April 2026, Amazon announced the following day that it would host OpenAI models via AWS Bedrock; Google Cloud is now the third provider.
IT之家 previously reported that Gemini Agent was launched on October 8 at "Gemini at Work 2026", where it could route between Gemini and Anthropic Claude models, with Google explicitly listing OpenAI and open-weight models as "coming next".
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian previously said in a Reuters interview that Google Cloud is an open platform that welcomes any model popular with developers.
