IT之家 News on October 27: Apple today pushed the iPhone and iPad users the iOS / iPadOS 27.2 update (build number: 24B119), 28 days after the last final version release.
Note that due to cache issues in the configuration of Apple's regional node servers, some locations may detect the upgrade update with a slight delay, generally within half an hour, not too long.
In the official changelog, it only mentions “This update provides improvements, bug fixes and security updates for iPhone.”
As for the update content, IT之家 queried overseas media reports and attaches the relevant changelog content as follows:
Siri AI
Memory capability: Siri AI can remember previous conversation content. For example, you can ask it “which restaurants were recommended last week”.
Broader personal context: Siri can reference more information sources, including photo attachments in Messages, calendar event participants, voicemails, as well as better Safari history and Reading List results.
Excluded Apps: A new unified setting lets you choose which Apps cannot be accessed by Siri, Search and Suggestions.
Precise text selection: You can select and copy only part of a Siri answer.
New languages: Siri AI adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish; however, Siri AI is unavailable in the EU and mainland China.
Messages, Photos and FaceTime
Messages suggested actions: Provides quick action suggestions based on chat content. For example, when a date is mentioned in a conversation, you can quickly create a calendar event or reminder; users can control the types of suggestions in Settings.
Photos shared albums: You can edit captions and comments, avoid duplicate photo additions, and a reminder is shown when an album is about to expire, making it easy for participants to save important photos and videos.
SynthID watermark detection: Photos and Image Playground support detecting whether an image was created or modified by generative AI.
FaceTime: Supports adding a third-party sign language interpreter or live captioner during calls; Dual Capture extends to group FaceTime, allowing simultaneous sharing of front and rear camera feeds.
Apple Music, Podcasts and Apple TV
Apple Music brand-new brand visuals: The app icon changes to a black and white color scheme, replacing the original red design; the accent color of selected tabs in the app changes from red to blue, and widgets also switch to a black background.
Podcasts: The home page is split into “Latest Episodes” and “Continue Playing” sections, showing new content from followed shows and shows not yet finished, respectively; the app icon and playback queue interface have also been adjusted.
Apple TV profiles: The Apple TV app on iPhone adds personal profiles, so family members can have independent viewing histories and recommendations; child accounts and password protection are also supported.
Apple TV Multiview: Sports content supports Multiview, allowing you to watch up to four games at once, but the feature is limited to live sports on Apple TV.
Home, HomePod and system details
Home App smart locks: Adds “Auto-lock after closing” and “Door left open reminder” features for compatible locks; the latter can remind you when a door has been left open for a long time, with the reminder time settable from 5 to 30 minutes.
HomePod: After the update, a new "Lock Controls" setting is added to prevent accidental taps from starting audio playback, while keeping touch responses such as timers and alarms; HomePod also requires updating to firmware 27.2.
CarPlay Ultra: Themes can be applied, and the car's ambient lighting may change with the theme; the actual effect depends on the automaker's level of integration.
Other interface adjustments: including the progress bar and Liquid Glass menu in the Apple Books reading interface, minor tweaks to the Find My icon, restoring the side-button activation option in Siri accessibility settings, and fixing an issue where widgets could flicker or get stuck while being dragged on the Home Screen.
