IT之家 reported on October 27 thatApple today pushed the iOS 27.2 official update (build number: 24B119) to iPhone 18 Pro and other models, and pushed a dedicated iOS 27.2 update (build number: 24B91020) for its first folding iPhone Duo。
Based on reports from MacRumors and several other overseas media outlets, IT之家 has compiled and summarized the contents of this update as follows:
I. Enhanced Siri AI Experience (Not Yet Available in China)
Siri AI can now remember users' previous conversation content. For example, users can ask Siri about a restaurant it previously recommended without having to describe their request again.
In the iOS 27.2 update, Apple expanded the sources of information that can be accessed, including:
photos attached in the Messages app
participants of calendar events
voice memos
Safari browsing history and reading list — Apple has also improved retrieval performance
Apple redesigned the "Excluded Apps" feature, allowing users to more quickly choose which apps Siri, Search, and system suggestions cannot access. Siri replies also support fine-grained text selection, so only the needed portion can be copied.
Note that Siri AI requires an iPhone 15 Pro or newer model, and it is currently not yet available in the EU and mainland China.
II. Messages App Supports Contextual Suggestions
The "Messages" app has added a new Suggestions feature. Based on the conversation content, the system displays tappable quick actions in the chat interface, such as tracking a package or adding a dinner invitation to the calendar.
Users can choose which suggestions to enable; these currently include:
Calendar
Reminders
Notes
Maps
Flights & Packages
This feature appeared during the iOS 27 beta phase but was removed before the release of the iOS 27 official version, and it now officially returns with iOS 27.2.
III. Expanded Languages Supported by Siri AI
Siri AI adds support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. However, users in the EU and mainland China still cannot use this feature.
IV. Adjusted Apple Music Brand Visuals
Apple Music has switched to a new black-and-white icon, replacing the previous red icon. The highlight colors in the in-app navigation bar and other areas have also been adjusted accordingly, removing red elements to better match Apple's recent Apple Music brand redesign.
5. Photos App Improves Shared Albums and Organization
Shared albums in the Photos app now support editing titles and comments. Apple has also added two practical improvements: avoiding duplicate photos, and reminding users to save important photos and videos before a shared album expires.
6. SynthID Labels AI-Generated and Edited Content
iOS 27.2 adds SynthID labels to images generated by Image Playground, as well as to some Photos app editing results.
Specific triggering scenarios include:
Using the “Extend” feature
Using the “Reframe” feature
Using the “Clean Up” tool for larger edits
Users can check whether an image carries a SynthID watermark via Google's SynthID Detector website. This update helps distinguish AI-generated or AI-assisted edited content.
7. Podcasts: clearer home page information structure
The Podcasts app's “Home” tab adds two new separate sections: “New Shows” and “Continue Listening,” replacing the former “Up Next” section. This makes it easier for users to tell apart new content they haven't listened to from shows they're currently following.
8. Games: more complete friend information
The “Friends” tab in the Games app now provides more context for friend recommendations and shows recently played games on a friend's player page, making it easy to keep up with friends' gaming activity.
9. Creating profiles in Apple TV
The Apple TV app now supports creating profiles in the account settings on iPhone and iPad . A profile only requires a name, a content rating, and whether it is for a child.
When creating a profile for a child, the default content restriction is PG, but users can further customize the age ratings for TV shows and movies.
10. Multiview on iPhone expanded to support up to 4 live sports feeds
Meanwhile, the Multiview feature has been extended to iPhone, allowing users to watch up to four live sports streams simultaneously in the Apple TV app.
Eligible content is limited to events within the Apple TV subscription, including MLS and F1 in the US region, as well as “Friday Night Baseball” doubleheaders during the MLB season.
11. Phone app
The Phone app adds a new Call Context feature. If the user has saved someone's anniversary in their contacts, they will receive a reminder when calling that contact.
12. Extending FaceTime's Dual Capture
FaceTime's Dual Capture now supports group calls, transmitting both front and rear camera feeds simultaneously. On compatible devices, switching cameras during a FaceTime call automatically enables this feature.
Devices supporting Dual Capture include:
Apple has also added the ability to add a third-party sign language interpreter or live captioner during calls, improving accessible communication.
13. Shortcuts: enhanced automation and editing capabilities
The Shortcuts app gains several new automations and actions, including:
iPhone Duo adds a 'When my iPhone is opened or closed' automation
Workout automation adds support for fitness apps
App Automation can display the name of the app being closed
The window layout can be configured via "Show Actions" and "Show Description Shortcut"
Shortcuts' names and icons can be edited in the Library
14. iPhone Duo Exclusive Updates
iOS 27.2 adds USB-C Apple Pencil support for iPhone Duo, making it convenient for users to write, annotate, and perform other operations. It also introduces a new Edge Light feature that illuminates the user's face during video calls.
15. Clock
In the Clock app's alarm list, the AM and PM labels have become smaller, making the interface more compact.
16. App Tracking Transparency (In the EU)
In the EU, App Tracking Transparency has added an alternative extended prompt and supports re-prompting annually. Users in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Romania must use the alternative prompt.
17. Redesigned Health App Not Included
Apple tested a redesigned Health app in the iOS 27.2 beta, but the redesign was not released with iOS 27.2 and is expected to arrive later this year.
18. Security Fixes
iOS 27.2 fixes more than 160 security vulnerabilities. Apple says none of these vulnerabilities have been actively exploited, but due to the large number of fixes, users are advised to update as soon as possible.
