IT Home October 27 news: According to a report today by Korea's Money Today, Lee Jae-yong recently visited Samsung Electronics' Seoul R&D Campus in Umyeon-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, South Korea, to inspect the Robotics Experience (RX) business division on site.
According to reports, Samsung Electronics is preparing to participate in the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2027), to be held in January 2027 in Las Vegas, USA, and plans to showcase humanoid robot-related technologies. IT Home will continue to follow up.
This was Lee Jae-yong's first visit since the division was established in July (month 7) of this year. He focused on inspecting the progress of robotics R&D and the development of related technologies, and checked Samsung's preparations for showcasing its technologies at CES 2027, involving precision manipulation technologies such as humanoid robot arms and dexterous hands.
Samsung Electronics established the RX Business Promotion Office to consolidate the robotics R&D capabilities that had previously been scattered within the company, with unified responsibility for mid- to long-term business strategy, core technology development, and commercialization advancement. According to a Reuters report in July, the division will report directly to the Samsung Electronics CEO and will be led by Roh Tae-moon, head of the Device eXperience (DX) division, in order to accelerate the R&D and commercialization of the robotics business.
In terms of business layout, Samsung plans to first deploy robots in its own manufacturing plants to verify their actual operational capabilities and reliability, and then gradually expand into scenarios such as homes and retail. Reuters reported that Samsung also plans to expand robotics R&D investment in the US, China, and Japan, and said it will accelerate technology development and commercialization through investments, mergers and acquisitions, and partnerships when necessary.
In addition, Samsung Electronics is exploring the application of robotics technologies in manufacturing scenarios such as semiconductors, smartphones, and home appliances. Korea's Chosun Ilbo reported on October 20 that Samsung is testing a bipedal humanoid robot at its Seoul R&D Campus, evaluating its ability to operate continuously for 24 hours in manufacturing and logistics environments, and is considering whether to showcase it at CES 2027.
