IT之家 IT之家 reported on November 3 that the "28-day update challenge" launched by OpenAI Codex and ChatGPT Work team lead Thibault Sottiaux (Tibo) officially ended on November 2.
The challenge wrapped up with "quota reset cards" being granted on two consecutive days, November 1 and November 2, corresponding to days 27 and 28 of the challenge.
On October 5 Beijing time, Tibo announced the start of the "28-day challenge" on X, pledging to roll out one clearly visible improvement of practical significance to most Codex / ChatGPT Work users every day for the next 28 days, or else grant users a full quota reset.
Note from IT之家: the resets in the final two days do not mean that only two quota resets were granted during the entire 28-day challenge. The third-party tracking site Did Codex Reset shows that resets were provided on 14 days during this period (on some days both feature updates and resets were offered), with days 27 and 28 both being banked resets.
The challenge mainly revolved around product features, operational efficiency, usage quotas, and model updates. During the period, OpenAI rolled out a series of improvements and also granted users full quota resets multiple times.
According to records from the third-party tracking site, on day 26 (October 30), Tibo announced in advance that banked quota resets (Banked Reset) would be granted over the following two days. Subsequently, one reset was delivered on each of days 27 and 28, completing the final two resets.
The core commitment of Tibo's challenge was not to unconditionally increase usage quotas every day, but to require the team to continuously deliver product improvements that users could perceive, or else offer a full quota reset as a form of compensation. With the end of the 28-day period, the challenge has also officially come to a close.
