Large-model native AI terminal brand STEPX held a themed launch event in Shanghai, officially releasing its first large-model native agent phone, the STEPX Neo. Through deep full-stack integration of "hardware + operating system + large model", the device explores a new form of human-machine symbiotic terminal, priced at 3,999 yuan.
In terms of appearance and hardware design, the STEPX Neo adopts a "retro-futuristic aesthetics" design language, with a back panel incorporating transparent mechanical elements and 5 easter eggs paying tribute to the history of AI development. At the hardware level, dedicated perception and expression organs were specially built: an auditory system consisting of a six-microphone array, a low-power audio perception chip, and the Whisper1.0 sound-pickup algorithm; and a dual-screen linkage system on the body with a main screen and an independent MiniLED dot-matrix rear screen, using the rear screen as an exclusive dynamic expression space for the agent.
In terms of system and model architecture, the STEPX Neo is equipped with the first agent-native operating system built from scratch, Step AOS1.0, whose underlying layer integrates long-term memory, task scheduling, and a "trustworthy, visible, controllable, reversible" security architecture, dividing memory into a "user domain" and an "agent domain". At the brain level, it relies on the STEP large-model matrix with an "end-cloud collaboration" mechanism: the on-device model handles simple local commands and offline operations, while the cloud model undertakes the planning of complex tasks and decomposition across applications.
Regarding ecosystem and developer support, STEPX launched the natural-language AI terminal native development tool Step Studio, and opened underlying sensor, rear screen, and protocol capabilities. At the launch event, innovative cases were demonstrated, including a flying skateboard assist system developed by a Bilibili creator using the tool and a brain-computer interface "mind-based voice proxy". Meanwhile, the STEP Amoo agent has reached ecosystem integration with nearly 100 partners including Alipay, Tencent (WeCom, WeChat Reading, etc.), CapCut, Ctrip, Didi, Amap, and Meituan, supporting full-process service fulfillment such as AI payments and A2A cross-agent collaborative editing.
In terms of business and pricing, the STEPX Neo Early Edition adopts a "hardware-plus-software" full-stack pricing model, priced at 3,999 yuan (available in Carbon Black and Silicon Silver color options), with every purchase including a usage quota of tens of billions of tokens per month for 12 consecutive months. In addition, the first 10,000 users who complete the required tasks will receive a "Starship Ticket," entitling them to trade in this model for 0 yuan toward a new STEPX terminal within the next 5 years. Pre-sales of the new device open on the evening of October 13, and it will officially go on sale on October 16.
