IT之家 October 15 news:OpenAI's head of infrastructure and compute, Sachin Katti, announced his resignation yesterday (October 14) on the X platform, and his vacancy will be filled by Uday Ruddarraju.People familiar with the matter said that after leaving, Katti is expected to continue serving as an advisor and maintain cooperation with the company.

According to IT之家's review of public information, Katti moved to OpenAI in November 2025 from his role as CTO of Intel. During his tenure, he led the ambitious Stargate data center project and successfully reached compute resource partnerships with major suppliers including SoftBank, Oracle, and Amazon AWS.

His successor, Ruddarraju, was promoted earlier this summer to OpenAI's Chief Technology Officer of Compute Capacity. He joined OpenAI in July 2025 and previously served as head of infrastructure engineering at Elon Musk's AI company xAI.
Katti's departure is the latest in OpenAI's recent wave of intensive executive exits. In just the past few months, the company has seen the successive departures of several core executives, including Chief Product and Business Officer Fidji Simo, veteran executive Brad Lightcap, Chief Revenue Officer Denise Dresser, and head of the safety systems team David Robinson.
In response, OpenAI President Greg Brockman previously said that because the company is in the spotlight, every departure faces unprecedented scrutiny, but he believes this diversity and resilience in management will instead make the company stronger.
