PublishedAI News · 1 minute read · Oct 16, 202641On October 15, DeepSeek's official open platform issued a service restoration and compensation notice, announcing full compensation for the system failure that occurred that morning. From 8:11 to 13:04 Beijing time on October 15, 2026, its service system experienced a failure, causing API services to be unavailable during that period.
After the failure occurred, the platform immediately launched a comprehensive investigation and thorough remediation of service stability, conducting a full review of single points of dependency and removing them to prevent similar problems from happening again.
As compensation, DeepSeek will fully refund, in the form of credits, the consumption amount of each user account over the past 7 days (October 8 to October 14). The credits will be automatically credited, and subsequent API billing deductions will be drawn first from the credit account.
Such a large-scale and direct compensation mechanism is relatively rare in the commercialization of large AI models, reflecting leading AI vendors' strong emphasis on the developer ecosystem and service stability, and setting higher requirements for the industry to improve infrastructure resilience.
