IT Home On October 17, local time on the 16th, OpenAI announced an upgrade to the Chrome browser’s ChatGPT extension. It will support reading the tabs opened by users and provide more targeted responses.
OpenAI once launched its own browser, but later discontinued it on August 9. Since then, the company has continuously improved Chrome extensions to enhance ChatGPT’s competitiveness in browsers. The latest upgrade further expands the capabilities of ChatGPT within Chrome.
In the ChatGPT chat mode, users can let the AI assistant view the web pages opened in Chrome.And answer questions based on the content in itFor example, after opening different sofa product pages in three tabs, users can directly ask ChatGPT to compare dimensions, prices, delivery time, and return policies.
When using ChatGPT Work for complex tasks, users can alsoask the AI assistant to send messages, fill out forms, or organize tabs. For example, ask ChatGPT to fill out the form required by a new dentist, then add the schedule to the calendar; or analyze the service terms of several contractors in multiple tabs, and then write an email to the supplier that best meets their needs.
According to IT Home, ChatGPT in the Chrome sidebar also has the ability to access all chat records. Users can continue to communicate with ChatGPT or schedule tasks without having to leave the webpage they are viewing.
The ChatGPT extension is available for all packages. OpenAI says that Chromium-based browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Opera—except Chrome—can also use this extension.
