IT Home On October 18, according to CCTV news, at the 2026 National High-Performance Computing Conference being held in Shenzhen, China’s first domestically produced ten-thousand-card AI supercluster prototype just built this year was unveiled. And ten major application achievements will also be released. Its computing power can support creating a digital twin brain within a computer, or even an simulated universe that evolves over ten billion light-years.

According to the introduction, one hundred thousand cards refer to the high-speed interconnection of one hundred thousand AI acceleration cards. The most crucial breakthrough in this computing infrastructure lies in its ability to maximize two fundamental human thinking modes — supercomputing and intelligent computing — on the same computing platform.

But scale is not its strongest feature. The Shuguang 8000 is a computing power system that clearly follows the path of “native integration of supercomputing and intelligent computing” — on the same base, it can handle high-precision scientific calculations as well as large model training and inference.
Supercomputing: Essentially, it involves understanding the underlying physical laws and progressively predicting the future step by step. By writing physical equations into a computer and starting from an initial state, we can simulate the future incrementally — the more complex the system being simulated, the higher the computing power requirements become.
Intelligent Computing: Essentially, it involves summarizing patterns by aggregating empirical data. For example, the ancients didn’t understand atmospheric fluid equations, but they could use simple experiences like “Don’t go out in the morning glow; travel thousands of miles under the evening glow” to predict weather. When this way of thinking is exaggerated to its extreme, the most representative example is large language models. However, patterns derived solely from data correlations do not actually allow AI to grasp the underlying causes, and it is easy for AI to produce hallucinations.

According to previous reports by IT Home, in August this year, China’s computing power infrastructure was further strengthened. The first domestically produced 100,000-card artificial intelligence super cluster was officially put into use. This marks a new stage in the construction of China’s computing power infrastructure at the 100,000-card level. It is reported that the peak computing capacity of this new computing cluster per second is equivalent to all of humanity computing continuously for 200 years. It currently supports more than 300 different computing tasks in 26 fields such as new materials, innovative drugs, and artificial intelligence.
