At the 2026 National High Performance Computing Academic Conference currently underway in Shenzhen, the real machine of China's first fully domestic 100,000-card AI super cluster — "Sugon 8000" — officially made its first public appearance, and ten major application achievements will be released together.
The immense performance of this supercomputing project can directly build a "digital twin brain" in a computer, and can even simulate the course of cosmic evolution across tens of billions of light-years. Its underlying core mechanism is the deep integration of 100,000 domestic AI accelerator cards through high-speed interconnect technology, achieving a dual breakthrough in both scale and computing power density.
Notably, the biggest highlight of Sugon 8000 is not merely the stacking of hardware scale, but its adoption of a brand-new technical route of "native fusion of supercomputing and intelligent computing." The same computing foundation can carry high-precision traditional scientific computing while perfectly supporting the training and inference tasks of large models, pushing the two computational modes of human thinking — deducing physical laws and inducing patterns from empirical data — to the extreme.
Among them, traditional "supercomputing" focuses on rigorous step-by-step deduction based on physical equations; the more complex the simulated object, the more explosively computing power consumption grows, while "intelligent computing" focuses on inducing patterns from massive data (for example, large language models), but relying solely on intelligent computing can easily produce "AI hallucinations" caused by a lack of causal logic. Sugon 8000 deeply integrates the two, providing more precise and reliable computational support for scientific research and cutting-edge AI.
As a key milestone marking China's computing infrastructure entering the 100,000-card-level deployment stage, the system was officially announced as put into use in August this year. According to official data, its peak computing capability per second is equivalent to the total of all humanity calculating continuously for 200 years. To date, Sugon 8000 has fully served more than 300 kinds of complex computing tasks across 26 frontier fields including new materials R&D, innovative drug development, and artificial intelligence, providing a solid foundation for China's high-level self-reliance in science and technology.
