Exa (auto, Dynamic Highlights) costs $0.066 per task, made up of ~$0.053 for search ($7 per 1k searches) and ~$0.012 for model inference. Exa (lite, Dynamic Highlights) costs $0.044 per task, comprising ~$0.031 for search ($4 per 1k searches) and ~$0.013 for model inference. Dynamic Highlights also reduces model inference costs by returning less text, with auto's model inference cost falling from $0.018 per task with standard highlights to $0.012
Both auto and lite with Dynamic Highlights sit on the cost vs. capability Pareto frontier of the Artificial Analysis Search Index, extending the frontier beyond Octen (77 at $0.024 per task), meaning no other search product achieves a higher score at a lower cost
